Walk a Mile to Save Our Babies will be held Sept. 23

The 14th Annual Walk a Mile to Save Our Babies will be held Sept. 23 at Wake Forest Biotech Place, 575 Patterson Avenue in Winston-Salem, to bring awareness to infant mortality in Forsyth County.

Check-in starts at 9 a.m. and the event takes place from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. You can register at https://helpourbabies.org/WAM25. The first 220 to register will receive an event t-shirt and lunch ticket. Registration will close on Sept. 8 at 5 p.m. or earlier if capacity is reached. Even if registration is closed, we welcome everyone to join us for the 1-mile awareness walk — no registration required!

Participants will walk one mile with empty baby strollers to represent babies lost to the various causes of infant mortality. The event will include guest speakers, a boxed lunch and networking time. Photos and video recordings will be taken at the event. The event is sponsored by the Forsyth County Infant Mortality Reduction Coalition.

In the event of inclement weather, the walk will be rescheduled for Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at the same time and location.

September is National Infant Mortality Awareness Month. In 2023, the most recent year of available data, 33 Forsyth County babies died during their first year of life.
